Vaz | 61 years old

Vaz was on the Iranian national weightlifting team from age 16 to 21. He remained so inactive for the next 40 years that when he joined Power Block, he was unable to do a single bodyweight squat.

After 6 months of training, he was able to power clean 160lbs. This is a 25 pound increase from his previous personal record of 135lbs when he was training with Iran’s Olympic Weightlifting Team at 21 years old.

After 10 months,
he was able to dead lift 315lbs, and back squat 225lbs. Thanks to his coaching, his form left him free of back pain, despite lifting such heavy loads. For someone who began without the ability to squat his own bodyweight alone, this transformation is truly rare at this age.

Annett | 60 years old

Annett had zero resistance training experience whatsoever, only yoga, and had debilitating back pain prior to training with Power Block.

She learned proper squat form with her bodyweight, and after 6 months, was able to max out at 155lbs on the deadlift and 100lbs for a goblet squat. The best part was that she had zero back pain, not only the following days, but also while hiking on vacation for multiple days and multiple hours at a time — a feat once deemed impossible because of her back pain.

Dan Fenton | 25 years old

Dan was a former high school cross-country runner who had experienced 7 years of inactivity before coming to Power Block.

Despite having zero experience with resistance training, in 8 weeks, he increased his back squat from 95lbs to 205lbs. He became the 4th out of 4 of male clients to squat over 200 lbs after 8 weeks of training regardless of age, bodyweight, or previous training status.

After 10 months, only meeting with Coach Adam once per week, Dan tripled his deadlift personal record from 95lbs to 300lbs.

Brandon Bodkin | 31 years old

Brandon is a Krav Maga instructor and BJJ practitioner who has achieved outstanding results despite various genetic disadvantages and sporadic training in years past.

His training background consisted only of bodyweight plyometrics prior to starting Power Block. Within only 9 weeks of training, he went from no experience using a hex bar to lifting 235lbs in a deadlift, even despite his difficulties getting enough calories and protein.

Coach Adam was also able to help Brandon rehab successfully after a torn meniscus surgery, and get back to Jiu Jitsu in full capacity as pre-BJJ injury.

Josiah Wakefield | 20 years old

Josiah Wakefield, a purple belt instructor (at the time) and multiple time World Champion Jiu-Jitsu competitor at Legacy Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Burbank, CA, achieved massive cardiovascular and muscular endurance improvements, along with strength and power gains.

Josiah had a prior resistance training background of a few years of Crossfit and TacFit and was mobile but overweight and out of shape. Despite inconsistencies in training and a poor diet, within only 8 weeks, his max deadlift went from 225lbs to 315lbs, a 90-lb increase, and his sumo deadlift from 225lbs to 375lbs, a 150-lb increase! His shoulder press also went from 95lbs 1RM to 175lbs in 8 weeks. Josiah’s max power clean and bench each also went up 40lbs in the first 8 weeks, and max power snatch from 0 to 205lbs.

Josiah eventually hit 415lbs in his deadlift around 7 months of sporadic training. Additionally, Josiah could only do 2 pullups with his own bodyweight when we began, and needed bands to complete the rep count for the first 6 months. After testing, we discovered he no longer needed bands and his endurance max was now 18 pullups at 230lbs of BW.

Dan Kang | 29 years old

"I've been shredded for years now thanks to Adam. It's improved the conditioning a ton keeping the rep scheme structured this way. I might suck ass at jiu jitsu but I have endless energy which is dope, like a cheat code." – Dan

Dan Kang, Krav Maga black belt, instructor, and BJJ practitioner, started at a bodyweight of 165lbs and ended at 155lbs after 4 months, approximately 5% less BF, with greatly increased strength, power and endurance.

He works his ass off, doesn’t miss a lift, and has the results to show for it both visually and quantifiably. Dan hit a 75lbs deadlift PR at 315lbs and a 45lbs power clean PR within 15 weeks, dropping from 165lbs to 155lbs simultaneously. Within the following 8 weeks, he further improved his PR to 210lbs beyond his bodyweight at 365lbs, a 50-lb increase. In contrast to 8 years of CrossFit and 2.5 years of StrongFirst training, PowerBlock diverges drastically from conventional methods. Despite focusing on high volume and endurance rather than heavy lifting, Dan exceeded his PRs in less than 12% of the usual time.

Nick Krein | 28 years old

William Goddard | 87 years old

William is a professor of physics at Caltech. Before Power Block, he was unable to get off the ground without support by himself, but after training, he was able to recover and get back up after a fall on a walk instead of having to wait for help to arrive.
